Hospitality, casino and resort domes
Some of the world's most luxurious hotels, casinos, and resorts incorporate interior and exterior domes into their design. Architectural domes in these types of locations are usually designed to provide a stunning visual enhancement to an already elegant structure. The Terazzo Restaurant located in the historic Caesar's Palace, for example, is equipped with a dome ceiling that is over 60 feet high. Artwork and a chandelier adorn and enhance this truly spectacular architectural dome. Architectural domes designed and decorated to exquisitely complement their surroundings also appear in the reception area of Caesar's Palace. At the Mohegan Sun casino, architectural domes also figure prominently into the building's design. Arguably one of the most spectacular domes around, it is actually constructed to resemble a starry sky, which is accomplished through the use of fiber optics. This dome measures 150 feet in diameter. Many other resorts and hotels also use domes in their structures, although Mohegan Sun is perhaps an extreme example of how architectural domes are incorporated into building design.
At Stromberg, we have worked on some of the most recognizable hospitality buildings in the world, and our reinforced domes are admired and enjoyed by countless visitors on a daily basis. These architectural fiberglass domes are strong, durable, and beautiful. Some of the buildings that feature architectural domes built by Stromberg include:
- The Atlantis Resort:
- Stromberg installed several exterior domes made of GFRP at this world class resort, some over 100' in diameter. All of the domes and other FRP works have withstood two hurricanes (one a category 5). Many of the architectural domes were enhanced through the application of a bronze patina finish.
